Loury’s Powerful Condemnation of Elites

The Glenn Show | Glenn Loury with John Wood, Jr.

FAIR Advisor Glenn Loury recently highlighted an outtake from a past conversation with FAIR Advisor and Braver Angels’ national leader John Wood, Jr. that he thinks is “worth reiterating” today. Loury doesn’t mince words— “My concern is about the actual well-being of Black people, not about the froth on the top of the waves of American elite culture and how they’re reconciling their own psycho-dramas about racial guilt. What about the actual lives of people who are getting gunned down—gunned down!—by thugs a half mile from where they live.”

“The fact that we have a public discourse where the extirpation of Black life in the thousands per year… can’t even be mentioned, and the handful of Black kids gunned down by bad police officers becomes the defining feature of our racial discourse… Ta-Nehisi Coates is a product of this diseased racial, political American culture. I am less concerned with rebutting him than with calling out the depths of intellectual vacuousness and moral superficiality that’s reflected in this fact.”
